Marching Rings

Each layer of rings is an iteration of a line expansion algorithm that yields increasingly dense paths for the rings to follow as you move up the tower. I generated the item transforms in Houdini. I used Geometry Nodes in Blender to instance the rings instead of transferring all the geo over alembic, which has the pleasant upside of keeping Blender responsive enough to work with live without having to generate low rez stand ins. I am also digging the new version of cycles. Each frame took 10 seconds to render.
