Smell Molecules Encounter Receptors

This is a few shots from a longer animation I created depicting the journey of smell molecules. In this shot the smell molecules have entered the nose and are being picked up by the smell receptors. I animated the individual receptors using a custom algorithm in Houdini that allows each receptor to see the nearest molecule and bend toward it. When it finds one in reach it turns on its light and matches color with the molecule. Rendered in Blender using Eevee
